Since Dean was born we have talked about having a dedication ceremony for both children but we weren't sure how we wanted the ceremony to be done. I looked into a lot of different churches around Albuquerque but most of them did group dedications or weren't able to do the dates we wanted. Then my mom suggested we look into having the Chaplin on base perform the ceremony.
The first time meeting Chaplin Dave we all felt so comfortable. He was so welcoming and genuinely sweet to our children. We showed him what we were looking for in a dedication and he tailored it to fit our lives perfectly.
December 6th our families and The Pettit's came in town for the dedication. We held the small ceremony at our house but not before having brunch with the Chaplin and his wife, Dinah. It wasn't a long ceremony but was just how we imagined. We asked Nick and Candi and each grandparent to say a few wishes for Ava and Dean's lives and then Chaplin Dave presented us with two bibles to give the children.
God gave us a special gift when He gave us the two of you. We know you don't "belong" to us but are the Lord's children. We promise to do our best to raise you in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We want you to know Jesus and follow Him more than anything else in this world and we pray we are faithful examples in your lives.
