End of Summer

It is hard to believe the end of summer is here and school will be starting for Ava next week.  We are really enjoying the beach and all of the strange creatures we find on it.  Today we ventured to the end of Pensacola Beach and found a spot of sand where no one else was.  We can't wait for daddy to get here so we can show him all of the places we've explored and he can join in on the fun.

This morning the beach was covered with these weird blue creatures.  They look like a tree trunks with blue hair to me.  They are called Blue Button Jellyfish and are actually tiny colonies of polyps.  From what I've read they won't sting you but I didn't want to risk it so the kids know not to touch them or any other jellyfish they see but we love to admire them from afar.

Ava loved her transformation into a mermaid but Dean didn't like her being covered with sand and kept trying to take it off of her.
They also like to make me sand pies while I relax on the beach blanket.
