Gulf Breeze Zoo

We really love this zoo and love living only 4 miles from it.  The first time we brought Ava here, she was only 6 months old and we were visiting our friends in Destin for their wedding.  She did not like the birds very much then but this visit she reminded me of the bird lady on Home Alone.

Dean loved the birds also but didn't like when they landed on him.  Every time one did he would throw his feeding stick to the ground and yell at them then laugh because they would all fly away.

It was a really hot day at the zoo but thankfully there was lots of shady places to hide from the sun and take water breaks.  We will definitely have to get used to this hot humid weather.

The zoo has so many different animals you can feed and a large petting zoo area as well.  It is one of the most interactive zoos I've been to.  They also have a large area you can only view on the train where the animals run free and an Ape Island.  It was too hot to walk the bridge over to view Ape Island but next time we visit the zoo we will definitely be taking a train ride to see it.
