We just got back from an amazing week on the beaches of St Petersburg Florida. We flew in Labor Day weekend for Nick and Candi's wedding. Our flight out of Houston got a little delayed so we enjoyed dinner at Pappadeaux while we waited. These 2 are so silly! Luckily with the time change it was about Ava's bedtime when we got to our hotel.
The next morning we met the Bride and Groom-to-be at the beach. It was a beautiful day! Ava loved splashing around in the waves. She loved it so much she had no desire to get out of the water.
Our hotel was across the street from the beach and we spent nearly every day there. Once the work week came it was empty and we had the entire beach to ourselves. One morning after breakfast we strolled over to the beach with our umbrellas and chairs and watched the dolphins play just off the shore. There were at least five of six dolphins jumping and playing right in front of us.
That same day, Ava discovered how much fun it is to chase the birds up and down the shore. She would not stop! It was so adorable to see the excitement she had and hear her squeals of pure joy.
Ava and I found so many beautiful shells on the beach. I couldn't believe how pretty some of them were. We even found a conch shell with a live conch still living inside. I really wanted to keep the shell because of how beautiful it was but I just couldn't bring myself to making him homeless so we eventually threw him back.
My parents have some very good friends who live in Clearwater Florida, just north of where we were staying. Monday evening, Randy and Stephanie drove down to meet us for dinner at one of their favorite restaurants called The Conch Republic. It was great food, great atmosphere and of course great company. Ava loved all of the fish and other nick-nacks hanging on the walls. They were so sweet to bring Ava the bucket and shovel and a Minnie Mouse doll for our upcoming Disney trip.
We had such a wonderful trip full of great friends, new and old. We were sad to see this beautiful scenery go but we are happy to be home again.
