Ava turned 2 on Tuesday! I can't believe two years have gone by already, it feels like yesterday we were bringing her home. To celebrate we had a Royal Celebration. We had the party at our house and had a little bounce house in the backyard for the kids.
Mimi and Pop Pop came in from Colorado for the party and Aunt Candi and Uncle Nick were in town from Tucson. Beauty and the Beast is one of her favorite movies so we decided to have a Belle theme party...it turned out great!! Candi helped me decorate cookies to look like Mrs. Pots and Belle's dress. And of course we had to have rose cupcakes.
I found these really cute favor boxes on Etsy and thought they would be perfect for the party. Chris and I stayed up until midnight one night cutting out ten Belle and ten Beast boxes. I wasn't really thinking about that part when I ordered them. Good thing they turned out so cute!Ava was so excited to see all of the Belle decorations when she woke up from her nap, which makes everything so worth it!
We invited about fifty people and almost everyone came. We have been so blessed to find such amazing friends here in Albuquerque that love Ava as much as we do.
We were a little nervous about the weather. The day before the party it had dropped into the low 60's and was cloudy most of the day. But it turned out to be a perfect day for an outside party, which is a good thing because I'm not sure fifty people would fit in our house. We enjoyed the afternoon sun while the kids played in the bounce house and ran around the yard.
Chris found a store in town that makes custom pinatas. We decided to get Ava a pink and yellow #2 pinata so that the kids wouldn't get sad when Belle got smashed. He came home with a HUGE #2. Ava had a great time smacking it before the older kids broke it to pieces. It was a big hit!!
After the pinata fun, we sang Ava Happy Birthday and had cupcakes and ice cream. Ava dug right in. I think it's safe to say Ava really enjoyed her's.
As usual, Ava was spoiled. Our house looked like Christmas after opening all of her gifts. The party was such a huge success!!
Happy Birthday sweet Ava, we will cherish these memories forever!
